We provide individual, tailor-made Maths tutoring.
We will be happy to help you with tutoring also in Plymouth.
We test the student’s knowledge, and using the results of
placement tests and any other requirements, we prepare a study plan, and online tutoring can begin next week.
Tutoring can have a different focus and also length. One lesson lasts 45 minutes, but some people prefer a two-hour
lesson (90 minutes) or even longer blocks. Courses are always individual, so you don’t have to wait for the
course to open. You can start at any time. The course length and lesson intensity depend on you. Some people
choose the so-called „quick help“ in the form of 5 lessons, and others prefer regular semestral or annual
At School Populo, we can provide regular tutoring, preparation for important exams, but we can also help with pre-school preparation or preparation for resits. Whether you need help improving your knowledge of the subject for school or work, or just for your own interest, we are here for you.
We help students with complex topics at school or with homework. We will prepare them for ongoing tests or help catch up with missed topics. We can prepare you for SATS, GCSE, A-LEVELS, and other exams.
Together with the methodological centre, our tutors will draw up a study plan for each student and regularly supplement materials for home practice.
Our sophisticated online teaching system offers time flexibility so that you can study from the comfort of your home. Apart from your own computer and connection, you don’t need any special equipment.
Each of our future students has the opportunity to take a free placement test. Based on its result, we will recommend a suitable lesson frequency and length. After each lesson, you will receive
the minutes of the lesson, the topics covered, and the evaluation of progress via e-mail. Parents and students are also informed about each upcoming lesson via an SMS message, which contains
the lesson date and time and the tutor’s name.
Mark was a child, according to the kindergarten teachers, “with no manners”. But everything was a little more complicated. Mark had trouble concentrating because he perceived sequence and succession differently and needed to adjust cognitive function deficits. He was unable to associate his behaviour with the consequences it caused in other people, and he could not select the essential from what he was told. This was then manifested when he had a problem learning the basic number series or understanding that the letters follow one after another according to a given order. Exercises that developed perception, remembering things, and the ability to repeat the exact sequence of what was done were therefore included in the standard teaching of the minimum for enrolment. Rituals and an emphasis on regularity and order were also an important part. Mark made a lot of progress in a month, which many people confirmed. He was admitted to school, and your lessons corrected his deficit and made his first grade start smoother.
Italian lessons at School Populo were a great benefit for me
Italian lessons at School Populo were a great benefit for me. My tutor was kind and inspiring and always well prepared for individual lessons and my questions. I also really appreciated the fact that we could focus on a topic that currently interested me (e.g. preparation for a stay in Rome…). At the same time, I would like to highlight the work of the coordinators, who found me a great tutor and who also helped me plan the lessons. The premises of School Populo are nice. I especially preferred smaller classrooms. I definitely recommend Italian.
I am overall satisfied
I am satisfied with tutoring of German through Miss H. Her classes are well organized in terms of logistics and, specifically for me, in terms of continuity. We went thoroughly through grammar, verb declination, verb forms, in nouns – definite and indefinite articles, modal verbs, strong and weak verbs, numerals, and phrases. We are currently working on conversation skills – that’s what the company’s owner will mainly want from me. I am overall satisfied.
I can recommend School Populo to those interested in taking classes
I can recommend School Populo to those interested in taking classes. We have a very good personal experience with the tutoring coordinator, Miss Barbara P., as well as the German language tutor Miss Barbara K., always a professional approach, friendly approach, willingness. Teaching time and content adapted to the needs of the student. Thank you.
Thank you very much
Barbara K., mom
Thank you very much for my son, who was tutored at your School. He filled the gaps he had in the French language. I also want to highlight the perfect communication between you and the parents. You are real professionals.
I wanted to thank and express maximum satisfaction with the classes
Hi, I wanted to thank and express maximum satisfaction with the classes, approach, and willingness of the tutor Renée K., who tutored our daughter. Thank you :)
School Populo and its distance tutoring proved to be a great choice
Magdalene K., student
For some time now, I’ve been looking for ways to improve my English. Since I come from a village and to reach the nearest town, it takes half an hour by bus, my options we very limited. School Populo and its distance tutoring proved to be a great choice. The tutor Amy helped me with my biggest problem – I improved my conversation skills. I can only recommend it to everyone.
I want to thank everyone in Populo very much
I want to thank everyone in Populo very much. We were greatly satisfied. The tutors who taught this school year and are still teaching my daughter are excellent
Mom’s story - correction of deficits
Our son Matthew was supposed to go to school enrolment and was labelled as a “naughty” child. He had trouble learning the basic minimum for enrolment, and he didn’t show much interest in learning. Because I was not satisfied with the approach I encountered in the pedagogical-psychological counselling office, I was looking for a method that would be individual and more human. A friend of mine recommended me School Populo and their pre-school preparation, with which she had a good experience. After a few lessons, I saw the progress and I was glad to have chosen a private institution. Matthew’s approach to school changed completely after a few lessons. He began to write coloured letters and numbers all by himself, syllabify from books and began to show interest in things other than cartoons. I do not regret the investment because this really paid off!
The story of Lucas - Spanish for the little ones
Six-year-old Lucas and I were going on a longer stay abroad, and we wanted our son to learn at least some basics of Spanish. Our boy was in pre-school age, so he couldn't read or write much. Therefore, the classes were approached in such a way that he learned as much as possible. So they prepared a range of fun games, songs, and poems for him, and the tutor spoke only in Spanish. The “total physical response” (TPR) method, which involves the whole body in the lessons and children fix the words by showing them in motion, has also proved very useful. Lucas learned quickly, and we noticed his progress very soon. And because Lucas, of course, had to go to school abroad, we used this method to learn the basics of reading and writing. We were very satisfied, and we can confirm that we really like the individual and intensive approach.
Jack started tutoring at School Populo in 2017. He wants to be an excellent teacher, that’s why he’s studying mathematics and social sciences at the Faculty of Education. Since accounting was among his most favourite subjects at Business Academy he graduated from, in the academic year 2019/2020, he started attending a distant program in accounting and tax at the School of Business Administration of the Silesian University. In his classes, Jack tries to make students think logically and think about procedures, but at the same time, he shows them an easy way to reach the result. Above all, Jack tries to show that math is fun and not challenging. He treats his students in a friendly way and with respect in every situation.
Julia loves our branch so much that she spends every afternoon with her students there. Although she eventually decided for accounting, she originally studied mathematics at Masaryk University and tutors this subject in our school. In addition to the tutoring of school subjects, she is primarily involved in careful preparation for admission or graduation exams. She always does her best so that the children learn as much as they can from her classes, but also leave in a good mood, feeling better about themselves. That’s Julia’s biggest reward.
My name is Jacob, and I am currently studying master's program in Project Innovation in Business at the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at CTU. I have been working in School Populo for the third year, i.e. since the establishment of the branch. Originally it was just a way to improve while studying at the university, but now I am determined I want to continue in this field in the future – ideally, as a high school teacher, although it is not very compatible with my study field and it will require certain retraining. I really enjoy teaching, and, it can be said, that work is also my hobby. My other hobbies include movies, reading, and occasionally cycling or in-line skating.
Physics, mathematics and computer science tutor
My name is Irene, and I am currently studying Physics at the Technical University for the third year in a row. Although I have always been interested in mathematics and physics, I sometimes also struggled in them. That’s why I decided to work at School Populo because I know from my own experience how important tutoring can be and how much it can help. It is a pleasure to work with students, because I am always very happy for the students when mathematics and physics finally start making sense to them and they stop being afraid of these subjects. In addition to working at School Populo and studying, I enjoy spending time watching series, playing computer games, and caring for my overly large family of cats.
English language, physics, chemistry and mathematics tutor
I am one of those happy people who do their job with love. I have taught and tutored at the same time for a long time, but tutoring brings me more satisfaction. I like to approach students individually, which I can through tutoring. My hobbies include reading, film, good music and sports. I like to meet new people, countries, and places, so I travel often. I’m looking forward to our lessons together.
Mathematics and physics tutor
My name is Stephen and I am studying Nuclear Physics at the University for two years. I enjoyed mathematics and especially physics from the very beginning, but physics won. At high school, I tutored my younger sister and other friends. I realized that I enjoy passing on knowledge. That’s why School Populo is the right place for me. I have my German wolfhound Max, with whom I participate in a number of competitions before entering the University. I also love to read, especially fantasy and sci-fi books.
Anne enjoys working with people, thus opening up for new ways of looking at things, setting out on new paths. According to her, learning is a process of discovery and creation that never ends. It begins with natural curiosity and accompanies us throughout life. In her free time, she reads, rides a bike, practices yoga, draws, goes for walks, invents various things/"tweaks" (in elementary school in the 3rd grade, she invented shoes from garbage bags + paper tape), discovers and rests. One day, she would like to be able to read a book so fast, not even to notice the turning of the pages, but at the same time, not missing anything and experiencing everything at ninety-nine percent.
Mathematics and physics tutor
My name is Robert, and I am in my third year at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering. I wasn’t much interested in math in elementary or high school. When I started my first year, I had problems and had to learn all the math basics. That’s why I know how important math is in elementary and high school. Now, I am in the third year, and I am a tutor (not only) for the first-year students at the faculty. My hobbies include literature and music.
Mathematics and physics tutor
George has been working at the School Populo for half a year. In 1981, he successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Science, with a major in Mathematics and Physics. All his life, he has been working at various types of secondary and primary schools. He is empathetic and prefers a friendly approach to clients. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and traveling. He is also interested in sports, especially football.
Eve tutors at our school for one year. She tutors Mathematics and Physics. She has always enjoyed working with children. That’s why after graduation, she decided to study at the Faculty of Education. She studied Mathematics with a focus on education together with Physics. She is currently studying Teacher Training in Vocational Education and Training. She devotes a lot of her time to work. Her classes are amusing so that the children find a relation to the subject and help children with various links and logic in the subject. She is always very patient with the students.
Ivy has been teaching in School Populo since autumn 2018. For eight years, she had been attending the Grammar School, where, thanks to her strict math teacher, she found a passion for computing and mathematics in general. The Science group that she has been attending since she was six years old and has taught children about nature and its protection from the age of fifteen, along with other similar enthusiasts, is a matter of her heart. They often go to interesting places in our republic, which provides children with hands-on activities about nature. Her main science field is botany because, after all, flowers do not run away. In her free time, she likes to read an engaging book. She continues her studies at the Faculty of Science at the University.
Kate is a student of Mathematics and Geography at the Faculty of Science at Palacky University. She has been tutoring Mathematics at School Populo for two years. Kate focuses on primary and secondary school students who need individual preparation for admission exams or continuous repetition of the subject outside the school environment. In a friendly communication and atmosphere during the lessons, she conveys the idea that mathematics does not have to be scary. On the contrary, she helps students find links in different areas, develop numeracy skills, logical thinking, and imagination. Kate believes that everyone can find their way to mathematics.
Georgia has dedicated her entire life to pedagogical activities as a high school mathematics teacher and an educational counsellor. For the second year, she has been offering her years of experience in the school environment and personal life to the clients of School Populo. Not only does she like to teach, she also motivates her students all the time. Georgia preferes the individual and friendly approach, that is why she has chosen the School Populo. Now she is very happy that she can let the lesson flow and does not have to watch the school bell ringing. As the biggest asset of School Populo, she considers the smile on the clients’ faces, who leave the class encouraged, and the goal they have set no longer seems so distant. And as Seneca Jr. says, “We learn for life, not for school.”
Daniel started tutoring at School Populo in September 2017 and now he spends most of his time preparing primary school pupils for an admission test to high school. He studies Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry with a focus on teaching at the Faculty of Science at University, so Daniel also tutors those subjects. He decided to pass on his knowledge of mathematics to the younger students just before he sent his application to the university and he does not regret this decision at all. Daniel enjoys working with students. He believes that each individual needs to have the topic explained in a different way, so he always takes the opportunity to make his students understand it as much as possible. He also makes the students enjoy mathematics and look forward to the lessons using his friendly approach, so they do not have to be afraid of asking him for help. In his free time, he tries to improve his English, plays floorball, goes to camps as a leader, and likes to visit new places and meet new people.
Sarah is a retired math teacher. She taught Mathematics and Physics at the primary school for 40 years. According to her, she was and is strict, insisting on students meeting the agreed rules. She does not like excuses, especially for children who are getting ready for high school admission exams. She is of the opinion – which she also follows – that education bears the highest interest. I can lose everything (friends, property), but not what I know, can and am able to do.
Roman has been teaching at School Populo for over half a year and mainly tutors mathematics. He is studying Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University. He believes that rather than “memorize formulas,” it is more important to understand and reason about the content and tries to apply it in tutoring. He praises every good idea in solving problems and disapproves of punishment or unfriendliness for poorly performed procedures or results. In this way, he tries to bring mathematics closer to students, but in extreme cases, he can also be strict. In his free time, he enjoys reading, (cycling) hiking, and board games. He also enjoys brain teasers and puzzles.
Mathematics and physics tutor
Alena has been working in School Populo since September 2017. She has been professionally engaged in individual tutoring for more than 11 years, i.e. since completing her studies in Demography at the Faculty of Science, Charles University. She later took a Montessori pedagogy course and is currently completing a pedagogical minimum for secondary schools. She says that the best teacher is the one who studies something himself because he can take on the role of a student. Therefore she constantly attends some educational courses (English, French, or art workshops for adults). Alena perceives learning primarily as mutual enrichment – the teacher passes on his knowledge, the child then its view of the world. She likes to relax, having walks in the woods with her dogs, painting, or reading a good book.
Paul is currently studying Applied Mathematics. Every single day at school, he learns where we can find mathematics – and that's exactly what he likes about studying it. That’s why he understands how important motivation is – and that’s what he wants to pass on to his students. Maybe he will succeed in your case too, come see for yourself.
English language, mathematics and descriptive geometry tutor
Lena started to be part of School Populo’s team in December 2017 as an English and Mathematics tutor. She loves the English language because she loves traveling and getting to know people and their cultures. She also considers mathematics to be a worldwide language that does not need a translation. She graduated from the Technical University, worked in several positions in the industrial sphere, but was still attracted more towards the humanities. She spends her free time reading psychological literature, meeting nice people, listening to music, and everything else that charges her with positive energy and moves her forward.
Viky has been teaching at School Populo for two years and spends many hours of her time there. She studies Mathematics and its applications. She offers a fun form of game-based learning to broaden horizons, understand the context and encourage logical thinking in mathematics. Viky supports the joy of acquired knowledge and skills as well as the natural progression to a higher level of knowledge. She encourages the elimination of stress and nervousness before exams or important tests. She leads the student to achieve better results and the possibility of choosing a better school. You can often meet her at various events of the Faculty of Science. She will be happy to offer brain-twisters and share her knowledge.
Accounting, economics and mathematics tutor
I have been studying the Finance and Accounting study programme for two years at the Technical University. At School Populo I tutor Accounting, Economics, and Mathematics. I try to educate myself also in the office environment, so I have internships in various companies. I have experienced working with finance departments of corporations such as Hyundai Dymos and Work Service. I use the knowledge gained during these internships in tutoring and for university exams.

I would describe myself as an enthusiastic and patient teacher. When I was 14 years old I moved to Scotland and lived there for 6 years. After high school studies, I continued to study HND Photography at Edinburgh College. Since 2019 I have been teaching English. I think that learning should be fun, nobody likes boring lessons, so I always do my best to make lessons entertaining.
