English as a Foreign Language Tutoring Southend-on-Sea
We provide individual, tailor-made English as a Foreign Language tutoring.
We will be happy to help you with tutoring also in Southend-on-Sea.
We test the student’s knowledge, and using the results of
placement tests and any other requirements, we prepare a study plan, and online tutoring can begin next week.
Tutoring can have a different focus and also length. One lesson lasts 45 minutes, but some people prefer a two-hour
lesson (90 minutes) or even longer blocks. Courses are always individual, so you don’t have to wait for the
course to open. You can start at any time. The course length and lesson intensity depend on you. Some people
choose the so-called „quick help“ in the form of 5 lessons, and others prefer regular semestral or annual
At School Populo, we can ensure regular tutoring, preparation for important exams and certificates, but we can also help with translations, interpreting, or proofreading. Whether you need help improving your knowledge of the subject for school or work, or just for your own interest, we are here for you.
We help students with complex topics at school or with homework. We will prepare them for ongoing tests and exams or help catch up with missed topics.
Together with the methodological centre, our tutors will draw up a study plan for each student and regularly supplement materials for home practice.
Our sophisticated online teaching system offers time flexibility so that you can study from the comfort of your home. Apart from your own computer and connection, you don’t need any special equipment.
Each of our future students has the opportunity to take a free placement test. Based on its result, we will recommend a suitable lesson frequency and length. After each lesson, you will receive
the minutes of the lesson, the topics covered, and the evaluation of progress via e-mail. Parents and students are also informed about each upcoming lesson via an SMS message, which contains
the lesson date and time and the tutor’s name.
Ryan managed today's resit obtaining C. His mathematics teacher highly praised Ryan for that she could see his progress. We would like to thank you very much and especially Mr. Ralph, for Ryan. For his patience and time spent working instead of enjoying the summer holidays. Thanks to his well-done work, Ryan can continue to the second year. Thank you very much again.
Many thanks to School POPULO for providing Spanish lessons
Many thanks to School POPULO for providing Spanish lessons. As a complete beginner, I appreciated that they chose a very capable, but at the same time, patient tutor who tries to adapt each lesson to my needs. Her preparation for individual lessons is always very dutiful, and thanks to her, I am getting more confident in Spanish after every lesson. I would also like to pay attribute to the coordinators of School POPULO, whose approach is very helpful and professional. The school's overall functioning has always made a friendly impression on me. I can only recommend School POPULO and its tutors to everyone.
I would like to thank Mr. Martin for the quality preparation, making math for my son more enjoyable.
My granddaughter started attending tutoring at Populo
Eleanor L., grandmother
My granddaughter started attending tutoring at Populo last year when she was in the ninth grade, and her grades were like on a rollercoaster. The worst was chemistry, and she improved in it a lot. In the second half of the year, we replaced chemistry with Biology and I must say that the progress was evident. In the spring, I arranged a few mathematics lessons for my youngest granddaughter (6th grade), who needed to improve her grades for the report card, and she also improved. It is true that both girls were interested in improving. If there was no interest, it probably wouldn’t be that good. I definitely appreciate the environment – a friendly atmosphere, and tutors who can work with moody teenagers. After each lesson, parents receive on their e-mail an evaluation, but here I have the impression that there is a tendency rather to praise. This year, one of the granddaughters continues attending Populo.
I would like to thank you for your great help in language education
I would like to thank you for your great help in language education. My son managed to master the languages and hence got straight A’s in the eighth and ninth grades. We believe that even this will help him get accepted to the selected grammar school.
I wanted to thank your tutors for preparing me.
I wanted to thank your tutors for preparing me. In the end, I got to the school I wanted.
Italian lessons at School Populo were a great benefit for me
Italian lessons at School Populo were a great benefit for me. My tutor was kind and inspiring and always well prepared for individual lessons and my questions. I also really appreciated the fact that we could focus on a topic that currently interested me (e.g. preparation for a stay in Rome…). At the same time, I would like to highlight the work of the coordinators, who found me a great tutor and who also helped me plan the lessons. The premises of School Populo are nice. I especially preferred smaller classrooms. I definitely recommend Italian.
Tutors of the Italian language proved to be a great benefit for me.
My tutor was friendly and inspiring. She was always amazingly well prepared for the classes as well as for my questions.
I would like to thank you very much for Annette's preparation.
Cynthia and Joshua P.
I would like to thank you very much for Annette's preparation. She admitted that it helped her a lot. Many thanks to both tutors. And I would also like to thank you for the perfect services, be it lesson substitutions, additional lessons, etc. Just any request or question, everything was handled immediately and to my complete satisfaction.
We will definitely use your services again, many thanks
Hi, thank you very much. Simon was accepted to the school he wanted, thank you again. Cooperation with tutors and coordinators was excellent. I have one more son; we will definitely use your services again. Big thanks.
Yves is a graduate of the Music Conservatory, from which he deserted to the Theatre Faculty of the Janacek Academy. After graduation he worked as an actor in several theatres in Bohemia and Moravia. Since 1981, he lives alternately in California and Arizona. For some time, he worked as a director of the Radio and as a CEO of an English company. He enjoys teaching English, and it makes him happy. He likes the diversity of students, flexible teaching hours, and enjoys meeting new people. In addition to the school, he is modestly involved in communal politics in the culture at the town hall. Yves is still performing in the theatre and occasionally appears in film or television. His greatest passion is tennis and traveling, to which he devotes all his free time.
English language, physics, chemistry and mathematics tutor
I am one of those happy people who do their job with love. I have taught and tutored at the same time for a long time, but tutoring brings me more satisfaction. I like to approach students individually, which I can through tutoring. My hobbies include reading, film, good music and sports. I like to meet new people, countries, and places, so I travel often. I’m looking forward to our lessons together.
Economics, French and English language tutor
Joseph was originally an economics engineer. At present, and undoubtedly in the future years, however, he is completely enthralled by the magic of French. The French language is literally beginning to replace his mother tongue, which would not be a big surprise after years of traveling to France, teaching, interpreting, and translating. With a similar passion, Joseph also does English with a focus on economics and law. In his free time, he is a great lover of French literature and good French wine.

Andrew tutors English. He prefers a friendly form of tutoring rather than strict scrutiny. He likes to use various tools and gadgets to ease remembering. He likes when he can laugh with students.

Peter wanted to be a teacher from the first grade when he founded a compulsory home school for his parents and taught his grandmother writing according to his copybook. In high school, he was passionate about foreign languages, so he went to teach English wherever he could. Now, in his fifth year and still happily, he continues at School Populo, and passing on his knowledge is a pleasant distraction during his demanding medical studies. He gets on well with both children and adult “eternal beginners” and tries to get the most out of everyone in a fun way. In his free time, he enjoys music, especially piano and keyboards in the faculty band.
English language tutor
Vendy has been tutoring at School Populo since February 2019. During that time, she has tried working with children, future high school graduates, and adults. She enjoys teaching very much, mainly due to the mutual enrichment that language teaching (conversation) can offer. She fell in love with English during her studies at Charles University and Palacky University thanks to books and literature. She likes languages in general through traveling. She also speaks French, Italian and Bosnian. Vendy dedicates her free time to music and singing with the jazz quintet Blackbirds and Moravia Big Band.

Leanne wants to pass on her enthusiasm to her students. In addition to teaching English and German, she enjoys traveling and reading.

Nicole joined our team of tutors shortly after obtaining the international CAE certificate. Thanks to the opportunities of Rotary International, she participated in international stays in the Netherlands and Italy, where she met her current friends from all over the world and also improved her communication in English. Although she decided to move to another field after graduating from an English grammar school, English remained her passionate hobby. At School Populo, not only does she lead her students to the successful Cambridge English, Stanag, and secondary school leaving exams, but she also enjoys conversation and regular tutoring. Her teaching method is based on individual approach to every student and also a friendly atmosphere.

Barbara is a student of the University of South Bohemia, the Faculty of Theology, in the master’s program in Philosophy. As a true philosopher (lover of wisdom), she tries to pass on this wisdom to others and helps them develop. She also doesn’t lack the ability to empathize with the needs of others. A tutor simply has to engage and be able to “teach well”, which is sometimes really tricky. Communication between the tutor and the student is equally important. Barbara prefers to spend her time in good company. She likes doing sports – especially fitness, swimming, and cycling.
English language, history and art history tutor
Jane focuses on tutoring for admission and secondary school-leaving exams and supports students in preparing for re-sits. She also graduated from university in England with a degree in graphics and illustration. She met wonderful teachers there – thanks to them, she had the opportunity to exhibit her works in London galleries. After eight years of living abroad, she returned home and realized how important it was to come across motivating teachers. She tries to make her lessons funny and targeted and make the lessons entertaining for the students. Understanding and the art of dialogue are also important to her. Since 2012, she has been actively teaching the subjects and participating in various art workshops.
English language, mathematics and descriptive geometry tutor
Lena started to be part of School Populo’s team in December 2017 as an English and Mathematics tutor. She loves the English language because she loves traveling and getting to know people and their cultures. She also considers mathematics to be a worldwide language that does not need a translation. She graduated from the Technical University, worked in several positions in the industrial sphere, but was still attracted more towards the humanities. She spends her free time reading psychological literature, meeting nice people, listening to music, and everything else that charges her with positive energy and moves her forward.
English and German language tutor
Natali joined the team of tutors at the beginning of 2017, and she really likes working at School Populo. She studies a combination of German and Italian at the Faculty of Philosophy. And although she spends a lot of free time studying, she still tries to squeeze into her schedule as much tutoring as possible. She prefers to teach English, for which she obtained a C1 certification. However, she is also fine with teaching the basics of Social Sciences or History. In her free time, she enjoys reading, taking photos, writing her blog, or taking trips to the countryside with her two dogs. She loves tea, vanilla ice cream, and aimless wandering through bookstores.

In her free time, she likes to travel, discover new cultures, do sports, or go out with friends.
English language teacher
This is Andrew. He likes to learn new things just like everyone else. However, he sometimes feels like he does not know anything, even things he thought he knew. But there would be always something. There is no greater joy for Andrew than to put a smile on someone's face, so he has been acting since he was 10. However, acting is not taught at School Populo, so he had to find another hobby. As a small child, he came into contact with English very often. It was not just a matter of simple communication. He was looking for something hidden in this beautiful language - nooks full of secrets… And he does so to this day.
