A-LEVEL

A-LEVEL
The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (A-LEVEL's) s an examination completing secondary education. The A-level diploma is internationally recognized and accepted by most foreign universities. Excellent results in the A-level’s exams are one of the criteria for admission to the most prestigious British universities.
Information
Students usually prepare for exams for 2 years. They start their preparation by choosing 3 - 4 preparatory courses in the first year of Further Education.
Unlike other qualifications, this exam does not require preparation for specific subjects. Students have the opportunity to combine subjects at their discretion, but most will choose those subjects that they want to study at the university. In fact, so is the condition at most universities.
Students are usually tested externally and in writing (except for an oral exam in a foreign language). The output of the evaluation are points called Uniform Mark Scheme. Based on the percentage measured according to these points, the final grade is calculated as follows: 100-90% = A* (only for the total grade in the whole A-level; the percentage in A2 must not fall below 90%), 89-80% = A, 79- 70% = B, 69–60% = C, 59–50% = D, 49–40% = E, 39–0% = U. U grade indicates a failed test.
The examination board creates tests and subject syllabi, so the curriculum within one subject across the syllabi can differ significantly from different committees.
A-LEVEL structure
A-LEVEL structure
It consists of two subtests: Advanced Subsidiary and A2. Both of these subtests account for 50% of the total grade. Students start preparing for AS in the first year of preparation. A2 is a more complex, more academically oriented exam than AS.
Students usually prepare for 4 subjects within the AS, and three within the A2.
